Non-binary documentary filmmaker, photo + video artist, educator.

Based in AZ & Kyushu, Japan.

Born in Ureshino, Japan and raised all over the US, Toyoko holds an M.F.A. in Social Documentation from the University of California, Santa Cruz and a dual B.A. from The University of Arizona in Film and Television & Gender and Women's Studies - Queer, Trans, and Sexuality Studies.

Their work focuses on visualization of oral histories, Asian-American diaspora, marginalized or underrepesented communities in Japan, practicing care within film production, experimental documentary form, queering film production and industry, memories, dreams. ︎
